Inspire

Dice Pool: Presence + Expression
Action: Instant
Whether it’s the heartfelt expression of the absolute faith a loved one has in you or a drill sergeant’s command to get the hell up out of the mud and keep fighting, your
Character’s inspirational words can push an ally to keep going when lesser men and women might curl up and die. You can inspire your allies once per scene, but
any given character may only benefit from being inspired once per chapter. Roll Results Dramatic Failure: Your character stumbles over her words or flubs her line,
inspiring not so much confidence and resolve as despair and hopelessness. All allies who can hear your character suffer a point of bashing damage instead of regaining
Health.

Failure: You fail to inspire a morale boost in your allies.

Success: For every success you earn, you can heal one ally who can see or hear you (a live video link or radio communication is okay, but not a prerecorded message) of one
Point of bashing damage. For every two successes rolled, you may heal one ally of one point of lethal damage. You may spend this healing as you see fit, dividing it up
among multiple allies if you wish, provided they can all see or hear you.

Exceptional Success: No additional effect beyond the exceptional degree of healing.

Example: Klaus and Sara have rejoined their companions, but things are in a bad way for the group. Vampires have badly injured the two Lestrade brothers, and Sara’s wounds
are beginning to worsen. Spirits are low, morale is near to breaking, and the bloodsuckers are closing in. Klaus gives a rousing speech, urging his friends to stand fast
and hold till dawn. Klaus’s player rolls his Presence + Expression, and with his Specialty in Battlefield Oratory and the expenditure of a Willpower point, he earns eight
successes! Four go to healing Sara’s lethal wounds, taking her out of wound penalty territory, while two each go to taking bashing damage off of the Lestrade brothers’
Health tracks.

• Some Legacies have attainments that utilize a primary
Arcanum other than the parent Path’s Ruling Arcana.
Mages who follow such Legacies are not limited by the
normal restrictions for learning Common or Inferior Arcana
for that Arcanum only. The Legacy’s primary Arcanum can
be learned as if it were a Ruling Arcanum for the character.
He can learn it at the same experience-point cost as a Ruling
Arcanum — new dots x5 — and learn it up to the fifth dot
without needing a teacher from a different Path.
Example: The primary Arcanum for the Perfected Adept
Legacy’s attainments is Life, even though the Legacy is tied to the
Obrimos Path, whose Ruling Arcana are Forces and Prime. An
Obrimos mage who learns this Legacy can learn the Life Arcanum
as a Ruling Arcanum.

--MAGE Grundregeln

•To the Limit
There is a way for mages to step beyond the limits of their understanding, reaching beyond
what they know to accomplish what even they can only imagine. Using this rule puts greater
powers in the hands of the players (and Storyteller mages, for that matter) but only at the risk
of great danger. By guessing at what the Supernal World might
hold for him, the mage grasps blindly and pulls down great tangles of magic in order to get his
will done. In the end, he may be able to sort out the many higher laws, contradictory and barely
within his comprehension, to release his desired effect. Or maybe not.
Using this rule, a player may once per scene opt to have his mage cast an improvised spell of
one dot ranking higher that he could otherwise cast. The mage must have at least one dot in
any Arcanum necessary for the spell. He uses a base spellcasting pool of his Gnosis + Arcanum
(his personal rating, not the minimum needed to cast the spell) for his dice pool, because he can’t
have any rotes at that level. Here are the catches: The spell is vulgar, even
if it is normally covert. Also, the attempt adds three dice to the Paradox roll. Paradox dice can
still be removed through mitigation and the use of magical tools. Finally, it costs one Willpower
point to cast a spell rated higher than the mage’s normal comprehension allows.
Should the spell result in a Paradox (as it’s likely to), determine the Paradox at the spell’s
dot ranking, not the character’s personal ranking. Furthermore, determine its Duration as if the
mage’s Wisdom were reduced by one. The result is that mages have access to about a
fourth of the spells in the book from the very start. But using the most powerful of those is much
more likely to drive them really mad or open the door for a powerful creature from the Abyss. A
common use is to gain advanced prolongation Duration factors for a fi ve-dot spell, a feat that
normally requires the mage to know six dots.

Vampire the Requiem[edit]

A vampire who wishes to create a ghoul must feed a mortal at
least a single Vitae. In addition, the vampire’s player must spend
a point of Willpower to invest the ghoul with some degree of the
mystic state with which she is cursed. If a vampire simply gives a
mortal Vitae but no Willpower point is expended, the mortal
does not become a ghoul (though he is potentially subject to the
Vinculum and blood addiction). This Willpower expenditure
represents the creation of an artificial state, inflicting some of
the benefits and detriments of undeath on the ghoul.

Changeling - the Lost[edit]
